Australia, have I told you lately how thankful I am for you?
Your creatures captivate me: It’s as if all of the animals I sang about in grade school have magically appeared: Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport. Watch me wallabies feed, Mate. Kookaburra sits in the Old Gum Tree. And throw in a tree possum for good measure. 😉 They’re ALL here!!!
Your trees inspire me: Jacarandas, Fig, Eucalyptus. We visited new friends in Sydney this week. The Opera House is iconic, but the trees in the adjacent Botanical Gardens stole the show!
Your clean air and sunshine allow me to hang out the laundry, making me feel like Ma Ingalls. I am homesteader, hear me giggle.
Your bike trails and walking paths are lush, green, and vibrant. Peace seeps into my soul as I greet neighbors with their hounds in tow, amidst wild turkeys who have no fear this Thanksgiving nor any other day.
For several decades you have housed a treasure, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, just north of Brisbane. We have been welcomed with open arms by this delightful Jesus-loving Body of Believers. They are a small but mighty ELS congregation of faithful, hard-working, lovable people, who are exceedingly generous with their resources and time. We will not be with our biological families for the holidays, but we’ll be with brothers and sisters, feasting on the promises of God as we partner together to share the Gospel on this beautiful continent.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog! I’ve been encouraged by your comments and support. If you are so moved, you can join my Mission Support Team at https://www.friendsnet.org/christine.
I have always wanted to visit Australia, and your blog makes me want to rekindle that desire. Maybe I'll put it back on the Bucket list.
Beautiful !! Thanks for sharing!! Diana Schroeder
